As salinas de Aveiro, ao longo do tempo, tiveram proprietários oriundos do distrito de Lisboa. Como homenagem às origens, os proprietários atribuíam o nome das localidades às marinhas de sal. Assim foi "batizada" a Ponte dos Carcavelos.
