Wolfstein - Himmelsleiter
Circular route no. 9 in Wolfstein.
Interesting, varied route over rustic paths and the "Himmelsleiter". only as GPS and on the map
From the Rathausplatz in Wolfstein we follow the street "Am Ring" north and turn left into Schlossgasse. After about 300 m, the path leads uphill to the Neu-Wolfstein castle ruins.
We continue hiking up the paved street and after about 300 m turn sharply left into the "Maikurweg".
Following the marking, we pass the Pfriemenhäuschen on the steep path uphill. The path continues, left to the "Schmelzerkopf", right a path downwards (somewhat hidden) to the "Himmelsleiter stairs". We cross a driveway, go downhill on a small path and follow the wide path (upper Wingertsberg) back to the Neu-Wolfstein castle ruins and further downhill, the well-known path to Rathausplatz in Wolfstein.
BE CAREFUL! - Campaign for considerate coexistence in nature
- Always behave in a foresighted, friendly and considerate manner towards everyone you meet on the way.
- Respect nature, do not destroy plants and always stay on the paths.
- Remember a garbage bag for on the way and take rubbish back home with you.
- Please always keep your dog on the leash. Other visitors and animals will thank you.
- For your own safety observe all path closures. Also on weekends.
- Park only in designated parking spaces. Leave room for emergency routes and agricultural machinery.
- Please give priority to agricultural and forestry traffic.

Safety information
General:
Especially in autumn it should be noted that leaves lying on the ground can conceal unevenness, roots, stones or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rain, trees can still fall or branches fall afterwards. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths may have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or ravines are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is sometimes required. You have to expect such path impairments when hiking. If you think that certain sections of the path are not passable for you, you should avoid them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures caused by forestry work or hunting societies on this platform. Still, there are situations where hiking trails are closed and we may not have been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a path closure or detour, please pay attention to the instructions for your own safety.
The Himmelsleiter is slippery on wet days. Walk this route on warm summer days and you will feel like in Tuscany.
