Wolfstein - Eisenknopfweg
Circular hiking route no. 8 in Wolfstein.
Simple one-time ascending hike to the Eisenknopfpavilion via Wolfstein.
Map and GPS only
The Eisenknopfweg is mostly a pleasant, easy hike. Only the ascent to the Eisenknopfpavilion demands some stamina.
Past the well in Oberweiler-Tiefenbach, there is a long staircase up, then paths leading to the viewpoint.
The view over Wolfstein is worth it. The way downhill leads via a narrow path below the Eisenknopf opposite the Neu-Wolfstein castle ruins. In the valley, it goes leisurely past sheep pastures.
UFFBASSE! - Campaign for a considerate coexistence in nature

- For your own safety, observe all path closures. Even on weekends.
- Park only in designated parking spaces. Leave room for rescue routes and agricultural machinery.

Safety information
General rule:
Especially in autumn, attention should also be paid to the fact that fallen leaves can cover unevenness, roots, stones or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rains, trees can still fall or branches fall down afterwards. Especially in adverse weather conditions, there can be muddy and slippery sections on natural paths. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in places. You must expect impairments of this kind when you undertake a hike. If you think certain path sections are not passable for you, you should bypass them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures caused by forestry work or hunting groups on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where hiking trails are closed and we may not have been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a path closure or detour, please observe the notices for your own safety.
Tips and suggestions
The campsite at Königsberg in Wolfstein is looking forward to your visit.
A detour to the town center of Wolfstein is worthwhile. For this, go right over the Steg towards KOB, across the street, right along Lauterstraße, through the upper ring. The return route runs up the main street; in front of the parish office, a narrow path leads between two walls to "Abloss." Then follow the description above.
