„Im Draam bin ich schbaziere gange, in Jockgrim uf de Kärchhof naus“, begins one of Lina Sommer's most beautiful poems. In 2004, a walk was designed by the Lina-Sommer-Grundschule in Jockgrim to honor the local poet. Eight stations lead from Lina-Sommer-Platz in Jockgrim via Ludwigstraße, Stückelweg, Luitpoldstraße, Ludowicistraße, and Schillerstraße to the cemetery.
Web description by Barbara Eichenlaub: Her final resting place is in the former brickmaker village because the early widowed mother of three lived in Jockgrim with her son Walter in 1919 and 1920 and afterwards regularly visited the community until her death. Walter Sommer was the technical director of the Ludowici works and lived in Villa Sommer on Maximilianstraße, today's town hall of the local municipality. The initiative for the Lina-Sommer circular route came from the elementary school, which has been named Lina-Sommer-Grundschule since 2004 and shortly thereafter initiated the path. The life and work of the poetess is part of the curriculum for third grade, which at the end of the learning unit together walks the 1.2-kilometer path. Those who have not yet had the pleasure of meeting Lina Sommer can catch up on their own in about 45 minutes. This is best done with an excerpt from the brochure on the Lina-Sommer path, which is out of print but accessible on the website of the Lina-Sommer-Grundschule.
Past walls of old barns: If you arrive by car, it is best to park below the Catholic Church St. Dionysius in the Hinterstädtel. From there, the route first goes to Lina-Sommer-Platz on Ludwigstraße, which is decorated with a bust of the poet. In winter, the head of the Palatine woman is often decorated by friendly neighbors with a scarf and frequently a warming hat. After a view towards the Johanneswiesen recreation area and, with good visibility, to the Northern Black Forest, the path continues towards the village center. After a few hundred meters, the route turns onto the narrow Stückelweg, only allowed for cyclists and pedestrians. Past walls of old barns, the idyllic section runs behind gardens, along the high bank, with a view of the „Red Path“. The Stückelweg flows into Bahnhofstraße, which is left after a few meters, and you turn right into Luitpoldstraße. Those who repeatedly glance at the roofs of the old houses see the full color variety of Ludowici roof tiles previously made in Jockgrim. Again, it goes left into Ludowicistraße with more brick houses, then right into Schillerstraße. At the end stands Villa Sommer.
Continuing through Schillerstraße, there are several stopping points with information boards to the last station. It is the poetess's grave in the cemetery, whose appearance she had already described in her poem „E Draam“. Via the Stückelweg, the route returns to the parking lot. However, a detour from the cemetery down into the Tiefgestade is recommended. There, the „Red Path“ leads past meadows and fields to the tip of the Hinterstädtel. The short climb along the old city wall with romantic half-timbered houses is worth more than just a glance.
