Hinterstädtel Jockgrim

The "Hinterstädtel" in Ludwigstraße is probably the oldest part of Jockgrim. The city wall of the bishop's office town dates back to the 15th century and was once equipped with walkways and fortress towers as well as surrounded by a moat. At the sporn tip is the former residence and studio garden of the painter Prof. Albert Haueisen. The Torberg (popularly known as "Dörleberg") is the steep approach to the former east gate of the town. On the city wall opposite the church stands a residential building with glazed roof tiles from the Ludowici company, which was designed shortly before the turn of the century by Engineer Eugen Haueisen. Below the Torberg is the "Wäschbach," where the women of Jockgrim used to wash their laundry. Along the city wall is the footpath "Woog." At the Schlossbrücke, where there used to be a gate to the former castle, a descent to the riverbank has been created. From below, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the former fortress of Jockgrim. The Lina-Sommer-Platz is also located in the Hinterstädtel. It is a gift from Walter Sommer for his mother Lina Sommer on the occasion of her 65th birthday in 1927.
