Leaving Smederevska Palanka, the trail heads south-east through the agricultural heartland of central Serbia. The route passes through Stojačak, Radovanje, and Rakinac, following a mixture of local roads and quiet tracks across open farmland and gently undulating terrain.

The landscape is characterised by cultivated fields, orchards, and small villages connected by roads that have linked the settlements of the Morava region for generations. Near Radovanje lies the oak grove associated with the assassination of Karađorđe in 1817, an event that marked a turning point in the history of modern Serbia.

The stage ends in Markovac, situated near the main transport route that continues south through the Morava valley toward Niš.

    Author’s recommendation

This stage, through gentle farmland, passes two significant historical sites.

Manastir Koporin, a quiet early‑15th‑century foundation of Despot Stefan Lazarević with preserved frescoes.

Radovanjski Lug Memorial, the forested site marking the assassination and the first burial place of Karađorđe Petrović.

    Roadbook

Leaving Smederevska Palanka on the N147, the trail passes the well‑known Palanačka Spa and its Olympic‑sized pool on the right, while a sprawling army base with rows of upward‑pointing artillery lines the opposite side of the road. After crossing the Jasenica bridge, the route leaves the traffic behind and turns onto a quiet field track, then right again toward the asphalt road known locally as Put za Stojačak i Baničinu. As this road bends southwest, the trail slips left into open fields, crosses a small footbridge, and climbs to a farm at the N370. Turning northeast, it soon leaves the road once more, following a field track that leads directly to the serene Koporin Monastery. Beyond the monastery, the path descends to a well, crosses a stream, and continues south along a nettle‑lined track to a small hamlet where the route turns east into rolling countryside. Here it reaches the memorial site and grave of Karađorđe, leader of the First Serbian Uprising, before exiting the park and turning right toward Radovanje. Just before the village, the trail leaves the asphalt again, following a field road toward Rakinac, then briefly continues toward Novo Selo, before turning right onto another field track that gently guides the walker into Markovac.
