This route is a stage of Section ST2 of the Sultans Trail, an international long-distance hiking trail from Vienna to Istanbul. The hiking route follows historic roads through eight countries (Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey), linking towns and villages in a traditional cultural and historic landscape.

This stage passes by Ásványráró, Dunaszeg, Győrladamér, Győrzámoly, before reaching Győr.

The stage from Lipót to Győr continues along the serene waterways and fertile farmlands of the Szigetköz, a region shaped by centuries of Danube branches that weave through meadows, willow groves, and quiet villages. Leaving Lipót, the trail heads toward Ásványráró, where traditional farmhouses and tree‑lined lanes reflect the rural rhythm of life along the inland delta. The route then follows levees and riverside paths to Dunaszeg, a village embraced by the Moson-Duna, a side arm of the Danube, before continuing through Győrladamér and Győrzámoly, where orchards, small lakes, and reed‑fringed channels create a peaceful, water‑rich landscape. As the trail approaches Győr, the scenery gradually shifts from wetlands and fields to the more structured outskirts of one of Hungary’s oldest cities. The final approach leads into Győr’s historic centre, where baroque squares, medieval streets, and the meeting of the Danube, Rába, and Rábca rivers mark the end of a gentle, nature‑filled stage through the heart of the Szigetköz.

Leaving Lipót, the trail continues through the Szigetköz, the low-lying land between the Danube and its Mosoni branch. Villages stand on slightly higher ground above the floodplain, while side channels, fishing waters, and wooded banks extend between the embankments. The route follows the Mosoni branch toward Győr, a town built at the meeting point of the Danube, the Rába, and the Rábca. In Győr, the trail enters the historic centre at Káptalandomb, where the Basilica and the Püspökvár tower stand on the former fortress hill. Nearby are the Rómer Flóris Museum, the Apátúr-Ház, the Carmelite monastery, and the synagogue. A plaque at Nefelejcs utca 7 marks the house associated with King Jan Sobieski, whose army passed through Győr in pursuit of the Ottoman army after its defeat at Vienna in 1683.
