Győr holds a unique position in Hungary as the only medieval bishop’s residence that continues to function as the seat of a bishopric. The present appearance of the episcopal palace largely reflects renovations carried out during the tenure of Bishop Ferenc Zichy (1743–1783), when Baroque architectural elements reshaped the complex.
Climbing the 40-metre tower rewards visitors with sweeping views across Káptalandomb and the baroque old town of Győr, including church spires, historic squares, and the meeting point of the region’s rivers. The lookout combines medieval structure, ecclesiastical history, and urban panorama in a single site.

Address: Káptalandomb 1, 9021 Győr, Hungary.Győr is located between Budapest and Vienna and is accessible by regular train and bus connections. From Győr railway station, Káptalan Hill can be reached on foot in approximately 15–20 minutes through the historic centre. Tickets are available at the central reception at Káptalandomb 13.
