The 3-Castles Route is a top long-distance hiking route offered by alpannonia®. The stages are challenging but with highlights along the route, it is an absolute hiking experience.
With the 862 m high Hirschenstein and the highest point of Burgenland, the 884 m high border tower at Geschriebenstein, this king stage from Stadtschlaining to Lockenhaus is only for real long-distance hikers. The route is also exciting for culture enthusiasts and invites you with the additional visit offerings of the exhibitions of the castles and palaces along the route. In the 3 stages, you will walk through the entire Güns Mountain range on natural paths through forest and vineyard areas with magnificent panoramic sections.
Author’s recommendation
Plan time to visit one of the castles and palaces. Use it as a rest day between stages or as an additional overnight stay after the hiking tour.

Section c) From the pass height/parking lot about 900 m follow the alpannonia main path, then left on the marking WW 07 (red/yellow) to Lockenhaus
