The first cross-border nature park between Austria and Hungary.
Where Burgenland stretches toward the sky, you will find Austria's first cross-border nature park. It encompasses the area around the eponymous Geschriebenstein, the highest point in Burgenland at 884 m. In a boundless natural and cultural space, visitors will experience a fantastic diversity in the Austrian-Hungarian nature park. The southern slopes, with their richly flowering dry meadows, colorful orchards, gentle vineyards, and sweet fruit cultures, offer an ecologically diverse traditional cultural landscape, the flavors of which can be found in the numerous Buschenschenken. Particularly beautiful are the large, contiguous forest areas with oaks and hornbeams, which can be explored on more than 500 km of marked trails or via the barrier-free treetop path. From the observation tower at Geschriebenstein, through which the state border runs, you can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view over all of West Pannonia and the foothills of the Alps.
The nature park office is always open from Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
