The short and flat route runs from Jockgrim via Kandel to Wörth and back to the starting point along the Rhine, offering interesting landscapes and great stops for the whole family. Variety is provided by many attractions near the route. In Kandel, you can try your football skills at FOOTBALLGOLF or climb an exciting parcours among the treetops in the FunForest adventure park. Playgrounds at Schwanenweiher in Kandel and in Wörth directly on the bike path invite children to play, and the parks in Kandel and Wörth offer peaceful oases perfect for a break and a picnic. A detour to the Bienwald to the Naturfreundehaus with playground is recommended for a rest. The forest pool in Kandel, the bathing park in Wörth, and the quarry lake in Jockgrim simultaneously offer water fun for the whole family and refreshment during or after the bike ride. At the end, you can admire the unique Rhine floodplain landscape on the Rhine bike path.

UFFBASSE! – Campaign for considerate coexistence in nature

    • Being considerate on the move – Always behave in a forward-looking, friendly, and considerate manner towards everyone you meet on the way. This is especially true on agricultural roads, where winemakers, farmers, and foresters also work on weekends.
    • Picnic & rubbish – Remember a rubbish bag for the way and take your waste back home. Use only the furnished rest areas for breaks and picnics.
    • Nature conservation – Stay on the designated paths and avoid unnecessary noise when you are out in nature. Leave the forest at dusk at the latest to avoid disturbing the rhythm of nocturnal animals.

You can always refresh yourself at farm shops such as the Zapf farm shop in Kandel, snack bars or restaurants, where there are also delicious homemade ice cream, fries made from Palatinate potatoes, or healthy treats.

    Safety information

Cycling on agricultural roads - Our bike routes often run on paths shared with others. We therefore ask for a consistently considerate and friendly interaction. Winemakers, farmers, and foresters use these agricultural roads through fields, forests, and vineyards for their daily work – also on weekends. Due to work operations and/or weather conditions, the paths can sometimes be more soiled. Special caution is also needed when riding along streets in and around Palatinate towns. Road closures and detours must be strictly observed.

Danger situations - In case of an emergency, quick help is needed. And although mobile phones can send GPS signals, at classic rescue points it often goes fastest. These are located at places easily accessible to emergency vehicles. Remember the points with green signs and a white cross. In an emergency, return there and give the number on the sign during your emergency call. This way, rescue teams know where to find you.

    Roadbook

Starting from Jockgrim train station, we cycle via Hatzenbühler Straße and the bike path alongside the road towards Hatzenbühl. At the roundabout, we turn left towards Kandel. After the FOOTBALLGOLF at Adamshof, we turn right into the driveway to the Zapf farm shop. At the farm market, we join the Kraut- und Rüben bike path (turnip as logo), which we follow into Kandel. We continue straight through Kandel. Before the city limits, we take the bike path along Hubhofweg. We follow the road to the left, where we reach the Petronella bike path (fountain as logo). We follow this again through Kandel and through the Bienwald forest to Wörth. In Wörth, we pass the Bürgerpark with its sculpture garden and turn left after the bike roundabout onto Herrenstraße. Then we turn right onto Ottstraße (one-way street but open for cyclists in the opposite direction), cross the main street, and enter Altrheinstraße next to the Old Town Hall gallery, which we follow to the end. At the end of the street, we reach the Rhine bike path (blue sign with cyclist). We turn left heading north, pass a playground, and continue about 5 km along the Rhine bike path. After the Old Rhine branch with its many piers near Jockgrim, we leave the Rhine bike path and turn left towards Jockgrim. After about 2 km, we turn left again onto an agriculturally used path, cross the B9, and pass the quarry lake at the entrance to Jockgrim. After a short and slight climb, we turn right into Ludwigstraße, then left into Bahnhofstraße, left again into Ziegelbergstraße, then right into Gartenstraße, and left again into Bahnhofstraße until we arrive back at the train station.
