This varied circular route through central Carinthia combines nature, culture, and culinary delights over a distance of about 85 km with around 780 meters of elevation gain.
Start at the idyllic Strandbad Längsee in St. Georgen am Längsee, which invites you to linger with its clear water and the surrounding hilly landscape.
Head northwest into the historic old town of St. Veit an der Glan, where magnificent facades and the main square invite exploration. Follow the Glan bike path southwards to Karnburg. There you will find the Karnburg Winery, known for its high-quality wines and the picturesque location among vineyards. Via a challenging mountain bike trail, you reach Magdalensberg. Once at the top, enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view over the Klagenfurt Basin to the Karawanks. The route continues to the imposing Hochosterwitz Castle, perched on a steep rock and with its 14 gates is considered one of Austria’s most impressive medieval castles.
The return path leads via Rottenstein, past Rottenstein Castle, back to the starting point at Strandbad Längsee.
