The Exile route commemorates one of the most tragic echoes of World War II. On May 30, 1945, three weeks after the end of World War II and three months before the expulsion of Germans from Czechoslovakia was approved by the Potsdam Conference, a procession of more than twenty thousand Germans left Brno, later known as the so-called Brno death march.
We will ride through Rajhrad, where we can admire the Benedictine monastery built by J. Santini with the Memorial of Literature in Moravia. In Syrovice and Bratčice, you will find churches built in the mid-18th century. In Malešovice, there's originally an early Gothic church of St. Stephen from the late 13th century, rebuilt in 1822. In Cvrčovice, you can stop at a castle from the early 18th century or at a Baroque church from the late 17th century.
The route ends in Pohořelice. By the road towards Mikulov, you will find a metal cross with a crown of thorns in memory of the 890 victims buried here who were expelled from Brno and its surroundings in 1945.
