A Semmelweis-forrás Királyrét közelében, az Országos Kéktúra mentén szolgál frissítő vízzel a kirándulóknak.
A megbízható, magas vízhozamú forrás eredetileg Saj-kút névre hallgatott. Mai foglalatát a Semmelweis Egészségügyi Szakközépiskola KISZ-szervezete alakította ki 1971-ben, valószínűleg „átkeresztelése” is ekkor történt. A 2000-es évekre a víz új utat talált magának a talajban, így a forrás időszakossá vált. Ezt a változást lekövetve 2024-ben a Semmelweis Egyetem önkéntesei az eredetitől pár méterre új foglalatot készítettek, amely állandó vízvételi pontként szolgál, illetve pótolták az évek óta hiányzó Semmelweis-emléktáblát is. A forrástól mintegy 100 méterre, északnyugati irányba elindulva, egy régi kerítés maradványán átkelve összedőlt kunyhó romját is felkereshetjük.

Egész évben szabadon látogatható. A forrás viszonylag magas és megbízható vízhozamú.

Public transport
- A Semmelweis-forráshoz legközelebb a Szokolya, Királyrét buszmegállót, illetve a királyréti kisvasút Királyrét végállomását találjuk.
- A Nógrád vasútállomástól, vagy a mellette található Nógrád, vasútállomás buszmegállótól is megközelíthető a forrás.

- Királyrétről a K+ jelzéseken elindulva, majd a K jelzéseken balra fordulva jutunk el a Semmelweis-forráshoz (3,4 km, 134 m szintemelkedés).
- Nógrád vasútállomásától a K jelzéseket kövessük a forrásig (7,0 km, 210 m szintemelkedés).
Parking
- Királyréten fizetős parkolót találunk.
- Nógrádon, a vasútállomás mellett ingyenes parkolót létesítettek.
