A shorter, pleasant hiking route starting from Királyrét runs along marked tourist trails with not too much elevation difference to the Szénpataki Hostel, then touching the Bajdázói Lake before returning to Királyrét.

We leave Királyrét heading east following the Z trail mark. We cross Szélesmező, then at the Béla-rét junction, after passing the sticker checkpoint, we turn left onto the K trail. After the climb, we cross the Cseresznyés Stream and immediately after turn sharply left onto the K+ trail. Upon reaching the Szénpataki forestry road, we turn right, following the Z■ trail, arriving at the Szénpataki Hostel (2nd checkpoint).
After refreshment and stamping, we head west, following the K■ trail. At a junction, we take the left road heading south, following the same trail (the other direction leads up to Nagy-Hideg Mountain). This is the highest point of our hike, from where we mainly descend. We arrive at the Bajdázói Lake, where at the rain shelter a sticker must again be placed in our verification booklet.
Leaving behind the last checkpoint of the route, we circle the lake following the forest trail T markings, then crossing the Bajdázói clearing we continue on the nature trail, reaching the Királyrét Forest School and Visitor Center. Turning left after the building, walking three hundred meters, we reach the finish, the Királyrét tourist hostel.
Public transport
- By train on the Vác-Szob line, we need to travel to Kismaros.
- From Kismaros, take a long-distance bus to Királyrét, getting off at the Szokolya, Királyrét stop. The bus departs from Kismaros at 6:50 and 8:50, the travel time is about 18 minutes. (On the day of the tour, the first forest narrow-gauge railway only starts at 10 am, so it is not an option now.)

- Once you get off the bus, a few meters ahead will be the start/finish location of the tour.
Parking
- We can leave the car in a paid parking lot in the center of Királyrét; parking along the access road is not allowed.
