The longer hike starting from Királyrét "climbs" the Nagy-Hideg Hill on the scenic, marked routes of Börzsöny, passing by two tourist houses along the way.

The hike starts from one of the country’s most popular hiking destinations, Királyrét. From the tourist hub, our hike's first section follows the Z marking, then at Béla-rét, where the only unmanned checkpoint of the route is located, we need to stick a sticker in the designated box of the certification booklet. At the intersection, turning left we switch to the K marking of the National Blue Trail. Crossing the Cseresznyés Stream, we continue on the K+ marking to the left. Reaching the Szénpatak forestry road, we turn right following the Z◼ mark, arriving at the hike's second checkpoint, the Szénpatak Hostel.
After refreshment and stamping, we continue on the K◼ then the K● markings via Bagoly-bükk, Kálmán Meadow, and Rakodó. At Rakodó, turning left, we join the National Blue Trail K marking again. At the summit of Nagy-Hideg Hill, the tourist house awaits us as the 3rd checkpoint and refreshment point. We descend on the K marking down to Kisinóci Meadow, then to the tourist house where we can refresh ourselves again at the 4th checkpoint. After stamping, walking back to the meadow, the Z path leads us back to our starting point, Királyrét.

Public transport
- We need to travel by train on the Vác-Szob line to Kismaros.
- From Kismaros, we reach Királyrét by a long-distance bus, getting off at the stop called Szokolya, Királyrét. The bus departs from Kismaros at 6:50 and 8:50, with a travel time of about 18 minutes. (On the day of the hike, the first forest railway only starts at 10 o'clock, so it is not an option now.)

Parking
- We can leave the car in the paid parking lot in the center of Királyrét; waiting along the access road is not allowed.
