This tour runs partly on old stone paths, partly on farm tracks and paved side roads. Right at the start, the Barranco de Izcagua is crossed, then it goes through agricultural areas and vineyard terraces up to the Canary pine forest that also covers the Montaña Las Tricias. Unfortunately, the fire lookout tower there cannot be climbed, but along the way, there are always beautiful views of the slopes of Puntagorda and Las Tricias with the ocean on the horizon.

    Author’s recommendation

At the time of the spring bloom, this hike is especially charming.

    Roadbook

From the church „Nuestra Señora del Carmen“ in Las Tricias, one goes downhill on the LP-114 to the first curve, where you continue straight following the green markings to reach the road again further down. After a hairpin turn to the left, follow the road until behind the next curve you encounter a signpost „Puntagorda“ pointing left onto a beautiful stone path uphill (red markings). You reach the edge of the Barranco de Izcagua and initially go flat along the side into it, then in switchbacks deeper down to the valley floor. Follow it a bit to the left until steep switchbacks lead back upward on the other side, where you reach the LP-1. Cross the road and follow a red signboard „Puntagorda“ on a dirt track to the right. At the next junction, continue straight („Puntagorda“) until a sign „La Traviesa“ points left, where you turn onto an old stone path uphill. At subsequent forks, follow the yellow markings as well as the „La Traviesa“ signboards. In the open pine forest, pass a drinking water reservoir. After a short section on a new dirt track, turn left („La Traviesa“), where after a few meters a stone path leads uphill and soon reaches the first vineyards terraces. At the next fork, continue straight („La Traviesa“). Cross a road and follow a narrow asphalt path uphill on the opposite side. After a longer ascent, turn left (signboard „Fuente Juanianes“). On a flat farm track, head to the „Fuente“, which does not always have water, and continue through the forest behind a curve. At a fork, keep right („Briestas“) and follow the yellow markings. After a winding, horizontal crossing, descend into a wooded valley and there take a beautiful footpath downhill. The path leaves the valley to the right and continues above a side road, into which it finally merges, but leaves it again after a few meters to the left. Later, follow the road for a short distance and then turn left again to return through vineyard terraces to the open pine forest. At a signposted fork afterwards, keep left (signboard „Las Tricias“). Soon thereafter, you reach a junction where you can ascend to Montaña Las Tricias on a dirt track to the right.

From Montaña Las Tricias you return to the last fork and turn right down onto a beautiful stone path (green markings), which later turns into a piste in open terrain, from which you turn left again onto a stone path leading down to the main road. Cross it and follow a driveway downhill straight back to Las Tricias.
