Lajosháza állomás a Szén-patak és a Nagy-patak összefolyása közvetlen szomszédságában fekszik. Valaha itt ágaztak el több irányba a kisvasút vágányai: a Szén-patak völgyében futó blokkházi és cseternási, illetve a Nagy-patak völgyében futó nyírjesi vonalak. (A nyírjesi vonal talpfái máig kikandikálnak helyenként a földből a Nagy-völgyben – a Z+ jelzést követve nem kell messzire menni az állomástól, hogy találjunk ilyeneket.) Az 1980-as évektől a Mátravasút solymosi ágának végpontja, 2009-ben épült vissza a kisvasút Szalajkaházig. Az állomás mellett található a Lajosháza panzió.

- Gyöngyössolymosról a S, majd S▲ jelzést kell követni, amely Dezsőváron keresztül vezet Lajosházára. Másik alternatívaként a S jelzésről a Köves-bércnél kell letérni a Z jelzésre.
- A Z jelzésen Mátrafüred érhető el Lajosházáról.
- A Z+ jelzés a 24-es főút melletti Vörösmarty panzióhoz vezet, összekötve Lajosházát az Országos Kéktúrával is.
- A S◼ jelzés Mátraházára vezet keleti irányban, míg észak-északnyugat felé indulva a Galyatetőre vezető néy jelzésbe köt bele.
