The Museum of Art History is located on Maria-Theresien-Platz near the Hofburg Palace in Vienna and is one of the most visited sights in the city.
With its collections of art treasures spanning several millennia, the museum is one of the most important art collections in the world. The Picture Gallery contains many of the most famous works of Western art by Rembrandt, Rubens, Dürer and Raphael. In addition to the Picture Gallery, the museum also houses the impressive Egyptian-Oriental Collection, the Collection of Classical Antiquities, the Kunstkammer Wien, the Coin Cabinet and the Museum Library. There are also regularly changing exhibitions. The mirror image of the building on the opposite side of Maria-Theresien-Platz houses the Natural History Museum. A visit to both museums should not be missed during a stay in Vienna.
