A walk »Ring round« brings the history of Vienna to life. On the site of the former Vienna city walls, numerous magnificent buildings were erected after the demolition of the city walls in the second half of the 19th century, including the State Opera, the Parliament, the City Hall, the University, and the Stock Exchange.
At the Schottenring subway station, our historically significant tour around the Vienna city center begins. Above the Danube Canal, we proceed along Franz-Josefs-Kai to the Salztor Bridge. Soon one looks to the right at Vienna's oldest church, the Ruprecht Church. At the Urania, we turn right onto Stubenring. Then we see the government building with its mighty facade, in front of it the Radetzky Monument. On Parkring, we walk along the long side of the Stadtpark grounds and come via Schubertring to Schwarzenbergplatz with the equestrian monument of Karl Philipp Fürst zu Schwarzenberg. At the height of the Hotel Imperial, Kärntner Ring turns right towards the State Opera. At Opernring, the Goethe monument at the edge of the Burggarten stands out. On both sides of Burgring are magnificent buildings such as the Neue Hofburg or the Natural History and Art History Museums.
