The culinary tour through Vienna takes you to gastronomic establishments where, in addition to Wiener Schnitzel and apple strudel, you can get to know the best dishes of Viennese cuisine.
The culinary tour through Vienna starts in the center of Vienna at the Graben. After eating a few sandwiches at Trzesniewski in a side street, it continues towards Am Hof. In Bognergasse, which is named after the bowyers who lived near the Babenberg ducal court, we stop at the Schwarzen Kameel. There you can order more sandwiches, for example with cured ham and horseradish, or already start the first schnitzel tasting. Schnitzel is also served as finger food at the Schwarzen Kameel. From Am Hof we now travel either to Nußdorf to Renner or to Hietzing to Plachutta to eat the crown jewel of Viennese beef cuisine, Tafelspitz. In Hietzing, a short digestive walk in the park of Schönbrunn Palace is recommended. Dessert, a Kaiserschmarrn, is consumed in a traditional Viennese coffee house, Cafe Dommayer in Vienna Hietzing. Finally, the tour concludes with a snack at a Heuriger in Vienna Mauer.

Tips and suggestions
Viennese Cuisine
"Viennese Cuisine" is a typical fusion cuisine with a long tradition, with some dishes traceable back to antiquity. However, the canon of Viennese dishes valid today only formed in the course of political changes in the 19th century with the rise of the bourgeoisie, as until then many dishes were reserved for the nobility. Viennese cuisine, also called "bourgeois court cuisine" or "refined peasant cuisine," typically consisted of four to five courses.
Hoping for better living conditions, numerous immigrants came to Vienna from the crown lands after the revolution of 1848. These influences often modified dishes and merged various national cuisines into "Viennese cuisine."
Roadbook
The route on the culinary tour takes us from the center of Vienna to the periphery and back again. We start at the Graben and from Am Hof travel either to Nußdorf or Hietzing to eat Tafelspitz. Depending on whether we are in Hietzing or Nußdorf, we have to travel more or less far back to the center to stop for coffee and cake in a classic Viennese coffee house after eating. From the coffee house, we then head back to the periphery, either to Großjedlersdorf, Grinzing, Neustift am Walde, or Mauer to a Heuriger for a snack and tasting of Viennese wine. The stop at the Heuriger is the conclusion of the culinary tour through Vienna. From the Heuriger, we return to the starting point in the center.
