A felszíni vizekben szegény, de lakott területekben gazdag Mátrában és környékén több víztározót is kialakítottak. Bár a Búzás-patak 1972-es felduzzasztásának eredeti célja öntözővízgyűjtés volt, a horgászok is rátaláltak a hangulatos helyszínre, és már a kezdetektől nyaralók épültek ki a víz recski oldalán. Az olykor keskenyen tekergő, csöndes öblökkel tarkított, 2,5 km hosszú állóvíz felülete 54 hektár, partján 140 horgászállást alakítottak ki. A 2-5 m mély aljzat csak csekély mértékben iszapos, tökéletes a pontyozáshoz. A rekordhal egy 68,5 kilós csuka volt, de fogható még amur, keszeg, busák és harcsa is.
Érdekesség, hogy a '90-es évek elején a helyiek át szerették volna nevezni a tavat Recski- vagy Szajlai-tónak. Felmerült egy üdülőfalu, hotel és strand létesítése is, de a névváltozás mellett ez sem valósult meg.

- Szajla (Ó-Szajla), Italbolt buszmegállóból a Z jelzésű turistaúton déli irányba indulva jutunk el a tóhoz (2,3 km, 40 m szintemelkedés).
Parking
- A tó a Recsk–Szajla-közúton közvetlenül elérhető autóval. Parkolásra számos lehetőség van a tó partján.
