Érdemes az elnyúló tető nyugati részéig elsétálni, ugyanis a panoráma innen tárulkozik fel igazán. A sziklás gyepterületről a hegylábi falvak és Gyöngyös városának látványán túl a párába vesző Alföld mutatkozik. Jól kirajzolódnak a Mátraalja és a síkvidék találkozásánál elterülő, különböző jellegű mezőgazdasági területek mozaikjai: szőlők, gyümölcsösök, szántók, legelők és erdős részletek váltogatják egymást. Keletre a Sár-hegy emelkedik, a Kis-hegy környéki dolomitbányák tájsebei mögött pedig a Mátrai Hőerőmű füstölgő hűtőtornyai meredeznek. Délnyugat felé a Havas, a János vára és a Szurdokpüspöki feletti hegyek magasodnak.
A hegy csúcsa erdőben van, erről nincsen kilátás, a festett csúcskővel kell beérnünk. Magára a csúcsra a rövid S▲ jelzésű ösvény ágazik le a lefutó gerincet követő S+ jelzésű turistaútról.

- Bagolyirtásról a Z jelzésű turistaúton induljunk dél felé, majd a Z+, a Z▲ és a S+ jelzésű ösvényeken folytassuk az utat (7,3 km, 230 m szintemelkedés).
