A mátrai helyszínekhez híven a Babik-kút feliratát is nemzeti trikolórban festették a kútház fém ajtajára, illetve a foglalás tetején egy törött betoncsőre is felfestették a piros-fehér-zöldet.
A kút nevének eredetére nem találni forrásokat, vélhetően egy helyi családnévből származik.

- A legközelebbi buszmegálló a Bagolyirtás (Mátraszentimre) megálló.
- A Gyöngyöstarján, köztemető buszmegálló felől is indulhatunk, de itt csak napi néhány buszjárat közlekedik.
- A Gyöngyöstarján, autóbusz-váróteremben sokkal több busz megáll.

Directions
- Bagolyirtásról a Z jelzésű turistaúton induljunk dél felé, majd a Z+ jelzésű ösvényen folytassuk az utat. A kereszteződésben forduljunk balra a Z◼ jelzésű útra, ami a forrás előtt is elhalad (4,6 km, 140 m szintemelkedés).
- A Gyöngyöstarján, köztemető buszmegállóból és a temető melletti parkolótól a Z▲ jelzésen juthatunk fel a Babik-kúthoz (7,7 km, 560 m szintemelkedés).
- A gyöngyöstarjáni autóbusz-váróteremből a Jókai Mór tér felé indulva máris rácsatlakozunk az ott induló Z▲ jelzésű turistaútra, amely egyenesen elvezet a kúthoz (8,4 km, 585 m szintemelkedés).

- Bagolyirtáson a Pelyhes-rétnél tudunk leparkolni.
- A gyöngyöstarjáni temetőnél tudjuk leparkolni az autónkat.
