Az időszakosan működő, foglalt forrás az Égés-bérc és a Bagoly-bükk közti nyereg oldalában fakad. Vízvételezésre az esetek többségében merítéssel van lehetőség, és vízminősége bizonytalan.

A Kecske-háti-patak völgyfőjében, 680 m tengerszint feletti magasságban fakadó, kiépített, időszakos Újpest-forrás tábláján a következő felirat olvasható: „Szállásbérc 1969. Foglalták a királyréti Erdészet dolgozóinak támogatásával a Budapest IV. ker. Természetbarát Szövetség tagjai.” A vízfakadás közelében egykor pihenőkunyhó is állt, amit szintén az újpestiek építettek társadalmi munkában. Az Újpest-kunyhó már az 1980-as években is romos volt, napjainkban csupán a nyomait találjuk.

Az erdő lombjai alatt a völgy felé néző, terméskőből rakott foglalásból vascsövön át jut a felszínre a víz, szárazabb időszakban gyakran csak csepegve. Vízminősége bizonytalan, ezért fogyasztása forralva ajánlott.

Public transport

Kismarosig a Budapest–Szob-vasútvonalon, majd busszal utazva a Szokolya, Királyrét buszmegállóban kell leszállni.
Kismaros irányából kisvasúttal is érkezhetünk Királyrét kisvasútállomásra (Királyréti Erdei Vasút).

Királyrétről a Z+ jelzést követve, majd a forráshoz letérő Z● jelzésen juthatunk a helyszínre (5,3 km, 432 m szintemelkedés).
Az Országos Kéktúra K jelzésének Égés-tetőn átvezető nyomvonalától a Z▲jelzésen ereszkedhetünk le, majd a Z● jelzésen kereshetjük fel a forrást (1,6 km, szintemelkedés nélkül).

Parking

Királyréten, illetve a Cseresznyefa parkolóban parkolhatunk (mindkettő fizetős).
