Varjaskér története
Varjaskér falut a honfoglalás környékén alapíthatták, első okleveles említése 1226-ból való. Egyhajós, 11x7 méteres alapterületű, keletelt, kerítőfallal védett temploma a 13. században épült, melynek szentélyéhez később északról sekrestyét építettek, valamint nyugati irányban is bővítették egy négyzetes alaprajzú, saroktámpilléres templomrésszel. A falu vesztét a török hódítások okozták: a fosztogatások hatására a lakók elhagyták otthonaikat, a funkcióját vesztett templom pedig pusztulásnak indult. Varjaskér falu végül az eredeti helyétől északnyugatra népesült újra, mely napjainkban Somogyszentpál településrésze. A templom körüli középkori temetőt egészen a 19. századig használták. A rom állagmegóvására 2024-ben került sor.
Kilátás a környékre
A Nagy-Berek nagyrészt lecsapolt mocsarai mögött a Balaton-felvidéki tanúhegyei tornyosulnak: a látképet a Badacsony uralja, de a Tóti-hegy és a Szent György-hegy is megmutatja magát a távolban.
