Friedrich II. member of the family of Wittelsbacher managed as Duty of the Palatinate from 1544 - 1556. In 1550 he errected a castle surrounded by water and used it as place for his chest. In the beginning of the 17th century the castle was already destroied by the war of confession. Today you can only see the ruins which are not allowed to climb up!

The wasteland is freely accessible in the forest. A platform has been erected at the site (from which one should also be able to observe "Elwetritschen") to get an overview. The structural remains of the former hunting lodge are not allowed to be entered for conservation reasons.
