Das älteste Kloster Benediktiner-Kloster Ungarns liegt markant auf dem Martinsberg und ist schon von weitem sichtbar.
Die Abtei wurde im Jahr 996 vom Fürsten Géza als erstes Benediktiner-Kloster Ungarns und ungarisches Zentrum des Benediktiner-Ordens gegründet. Das Highlight der Besichtigungen stellt allerdings die Bibliothek mit dem klassizistischen Saal dar, hier befinden sich über 360.000 Bücher und Handschriften. Neben dem historischen Kreuzgang, der wertvollen Bibliothek und der prachtvollen Basilika gibt es auch einen wunderschönen Heilkräutergarten und den vorzüglich ausgestatteten Weinkeller zu besichtigen. Vom Platz vor der Kirche hat man einen tollen Ausblick auf das Umland. Die Erzabtei Pannonhalma ist bis heute von Benediktinern bewohnt und bewirtschaftet. Seit 1996 gehört die Abtei zum UNESCO-Welterbe.
