Makovecz Imre Lookout Tower (Kis-Hárs-hegy)

The spiral-shaped observation tower was built in the 1970s by the plans of Imre Makovecz. It was completely renovated in 2008, however, due to structural issues it was closed again until the necessary works were completed in 2018. The tower built on a small clearing offers a panoramic view over north Buda, Budapest downtown, Várhegy (Castle Hill) and the Citadella. To the northwest, it is easy to spot Nagy-Hárs-hegy nearby with Kaán Károly lookout tower on the top and Hármashatár-hegy with its signature towers to the northeast.
The unique structure of the lookout tower is built around a metal pipe with 30 logs attached to form spiral stairs and a small observation deck on the top. Down, on the clearing a fire pit with benches and a table were placed.
When Children's Train opened a stop was established on the side of Kis-Hárs-hegy, however, due to adverse sloping of the rails it was closed in a few months.

- Get off bus 22, 22A or 222 (Széll Kálmán tér - Budakeszi line) at "Szépjuhászné, gyermekvasút".
- Get off the Children's Train at "Szépjuhászné".
By road
- Starting from the stops or the parking lot follow the Green↺ (Z↺) markers to the east. Past 1 km at a junction change to Yellow ▲ (S▲) to reach the lookout tower (1100 m).
Parking
- Free parking at Szépjuhászné (the crossroads of Budakeszi Street and Schüller Street). Beware that in good weather, especially at weekends it may be crowded.
