Vajdahunyad Castle is the backdrop to one of the most beautiful and oldest artificial ice rinks in Europe.

If you're looking for one of Budapest's main social venues in the winter, look no further! One of Budapest's gems is the listed building of the Városligeti lake and the Vajdahunyad castle, next to the Vajdahunyad Castle.Since the 1870s, it has been a symbol of winter sports and entertainment.

Its history dates back to 29 January 1870, the day when the skating rink in the City Park was opened to the public. Originally a small two-part wooden shelter stood on the beach, but it burnt down in the winter of 1874. In its place, the building that can still be seen today was built to a design by Ödön Lechner.

The Városligeti artificial ice rink is the oldest functioning artificial ice rink in Europe and the largest outdoor artificial ice rink in Europe. It is the largest artificial ice rink in Europe and the largest artificial ice rink in the world.skating rink, skate rental and skating instruction, while the entire venue is accessible. If you want to take a breather, you can do so in the snack bar. Rink rental is available throughout the season.

In 2017, a number of improvements were made to the City League ice rink. The access system to the rink has been changed and can now be purchased online. Now you can buy your ticket online, and enter the rink with a QR code ticket. The skate rental system has also been revamped: with your ticket, a photo of you will be taken and inserted into an ID card. This will allow us to get our rental skates without waiting. And to make sure everyone gets skates, the rink has bought 600 pairs of new skates.
