On the 3rd Sunday in July, the village hosts the "Keerschehooge" Kerwe, as Dernbach was famous for its cherries in the past. Since only standard trees were cultivated, the cherry harvest was done using ladders, and to also pick the most beautiful and largest cherries that were at the outermost tips of the branches, they used the so-called "Keerschehooge" (cherry hook) to pull the branches to the ladder and then picked them.
By the way: In Dernbach, the Kerwe was celebrated on St. Martin's Day until 1902. In 1903, the municipal council decided to move this Kerwe to the 3rd Sunday in July, partly because there was a mark and pfennig left from the cherry harvest to pursue the Kerwe festivities.
