Walk from Dernbach to the Lourdes Grotto and through the orchards
The orchard path is a pleasant sunny walk above Dernbach. You have beautiful views of the village and the castle ruins in the valley. The Lourdes Grotto also offers a resting opportunity.
The path begins in the center of Dernbach opposite the fire station. The D2 marking first leads north along the main street, past the Dernbach mill to the hiking car park at the edge of town. At the end of the car park, the path turns half right to the Lourdes Grotto. Opposite the grotto you have a beautiful view of the Dernbach valley and Trifels Castle.
Now it goes past the viewpoint straight along the forest edge, then through the forest for a short time. The D2 marked path leads back through the sunny side valley through the Dernbach orchards. Below the Dernbach house, the path joins a paved road. On the right, it leads back into the village to the starting point of the small hiking route.

Safety information
General information:
Especially in autumn, be aware that fallen leaves can cover unevenness, roots, stones or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rain, trees may still fall or branches may fall afterwards. In adverse weather conditions, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in some places. You must expect such path impairments when hiking. If you consider certain sections impassable, you should avoid them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures due to forestry work or hunting societies on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where hiking trails are closed and we may not have been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a path closure or detour, please observe the instructions for your own safety.

Roadbook
The path begins in the center of Dernbach opposite the fire station. The D2 marking first leads north along the main street, past the former Dernbach mill, to the hiking car park at the edge of town. At the end of the car park, the path turns half right towards the Lourdes Grotto. You now walk gently uphill, at a fork with a bench keep left. After a few meters, you reach the Marian or Lourdes Grotto. Here you can rest and pause. Diagonally opposite the grotto, you have a beautiful view of the Dernbach valley and Trifels Castle. This spot with benches is also well suited as a picnic area.
Now continue past the viewpoint, straight along the forest edge. A section of the path also leads through the forest. Through the sunny side valley, along orchards, the path runs southwest. Below the Dernbach house, it joins a paved road. Now follow the road downhill back to the hiking car park and into the village to the starting point of the small hiking route.
