Kostol pýšiaci sa bohatou výzdobou pravých fresiek na Gotickej ceste Gemera.
Na západ od Rožňavy sa rozprestiera dedinka Koceľovce. Uprostred stojí kostol, ktorý je chránený kamenným múrom pozdĺž celého areálu. S jeho výstavbou sa začalo niekedy na začiatku 14. storočia a historici dodnes nevedia presne určiť, ako vyzerala sakrálna stavba na jej počiatku. Kostol sa pýši bohatou výzdobou pravých fresiek.
Vysoká kvalita fresiek sa zachovala aj vďaka reformácii koncom 16. storočia. V jej dôsledku boli výmaľby prekryté bielou farbou, pretože reformovaná cirkev vnímala maľby na stenách ako niečo, čo odpútavalo pozornosť veriacich od sústredeného venovania sa modlitbám V tomto kostole sa tak v roku 1736 . Prekrytím bielou farbou boli fresky chránené až do roku 1894, keby boli opätovne odkryté a zreštaurované.
Svoju slávu kostol získal vďaka vzácnym freskám, ktorých autorom bol Majster ochtinského presbytéria. Ak by ste čakali jeho meno, nečakajte. Je to neznámy remeselník pracujúci na freskách kostola, ktorý oplýval nevídaným umeleckým talentom. Jeho rukopis je zrejmý na viacerých freskách a preto ho odborníci nazývajú „Majstrom ochtinského presbytéria“ Zručnosť Majstra je vidieť doslova na každom rohu.
Originálne spracovanie fresiek je stredovekým unikátom. Fascinujúcim spôsobom sa mu podarilo zachytiť emócie vyobrazených bytostí na maľbách. Netradičnou stavbou je kostolná veža. Na prízemí stojíte v miestnosti so štvorcovým pôdorysom, no len čo vystúpite o poschodie vyššie...
