Der Markt Au in der Hallertau hat mit dem Auer Schloss und der dazugehörigen Schlossbrauerei Au-Hallertau im Zentrum eine sehenswerte Attraktion.
Das alte Schloss, das im 16. Jahrhundert vollständig abbrannte, wurde 1544-1578 von Jakob III. Thurn in den jetzigen Ausmaßen wieder aufgebaut. Bekannte Adelsfamilien wie die Preysings und Montgelas lebten hier. Seit 1846 ist das Schloss Sitz der Freiherren Beck von Peccoz und noch heute bewohnt.
Anfang des 19. Jahrhunderts ließ Freiherr Eugen Beck von Peccoz das Schloss in reichen Neurenaissanceformen umgestalten. Das Schloss beherbergt im Jagdsaal die größte private Trophäensammlung Deutschlands. Der Saal ist geeignet für die verschiedensten Empfänge und Feierlichkeiten und kann angemietet werden. In unmittelbarer Nähe befindet sich der Schlossbräukeller und die Brauerei, die auch Brauereiführungen anbietet.
Die Brautradition der Schlossbrauerei Au-Hallertau reicht bis ins Jahr 1590 zurück. Ungefähr 200 Jahre später wurde das erste Brauhaus an das "Neue Schloss" errichtet.
