Tappenkarsee Hut
A universally beloved host couple, a reputation for excellent cuisine, well-maintained dining rooms, comfortable lodging, and a terrace make for an unforgettable stay.
From the hut, located 50 meters above the lake on the western slope of the Karteistörl, you’ll enjoy a magnificent view of the mountains—including several peaks over 2,400 meters—and the scenically stunning Tappenkarsee, the largest lake in the Niedere Tauern.
The hut is managed with a strong focus on sustainability and has been awarded the Alpine Club’s environmental seal of approval as well as the Austrian Environmental Label.
Please observe the following rules:
· Reservations outside the season can be made by email; from June 1 to September 30, reservations can only be made by phone
· Cash payments only
· Overnight stays with dogs are not permitted
· Overnight guests must arrive by 5:00 p.m.; otherwise, we will assign the sleeping spaces to other guests
· If staying overnight, please bring your own sleeping bag (lightweight down sleeping bag or hut sleeping bag)
· Dinner is served from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
