The South Route (78 km) connects the Fichtelgebirge and Steinwald. It starts in Neuenmarkt and crosses the southwestern edge of the Fichtelgebirge via Bad Berneck and Warmensteinach to Immenreuth. Then it leads eastward over the Armesberg and the Steinwald to Wiesau.

In Neusorg, a visit to the Catholic parish church with its late baroque high altar from 1777 and pulpit with figure of the soul-weigher St. Michael from about 1700 is recommended. In Waldershof, a visit to the former castle on a hill at the western edge of the town and to the former hospital at Markt 9 is worthwhile. The originally late medieval building was rebuilt in 1808. The parish church of St. Sebastian dates back historically to the 13th century; the new building was erected between 1818-1821. In Kösseinebad there is an outdoor swimming pool covering 27,000 sqm.
