Ridge path-Steinwaldweg

We start our hike in Schwarzenbach an der Saale and hike directly into the Fichtelgebirge behind Hallerstein. Over the Großer Waldstein, it goes down to Weißenstadt, which lies idyllically on the lake. The Rudolfstein is only the prelude to the Schneeberg, the highest peak of the Fichtelgebirge. But we will also hike the Nußhardt, the Hintere Messer, the Platte, and the Hohe Matze on the ridge path, enjoying the most magnificent views. Along the way, we experience different rock types - from granite and marble through slate to soapstone - as well as large forest areas, partly interrupted by open highlands. Near Wurmloh, at the Große Kösseine, the ridge path changes its name to Steinwaldweg and now leads us north of Neusorg to the Steinwald. We cross the Kösseine, hike through Schurbach and past Pullenreuth. The path continues through the forest to the Dreifaltigkeitskappe, the ruin Weißenstein, and up to the Steinknock. We continue the path along the forest edge above the Wondreb valley, seeing Mitterteich and only need to cross Pleußen to arrive at the destination in Waldsassen.
