From modern bunkers to medieval castlesModern and medieval fortifications greet us on the shady forest trail. As in many places in northern Alsace, one also encounters here the infamous remnants of the Maginot Line. The climb at Château Vieux Windstein feels almost adventurous. In contrast, Nouveau Windstein is ascended on well-developed and secured stairs. Both share fantastic panoramas over the Northern Vosges.
