The Hirscheck - a long-awaited destination on our "peak to-do list", and now we had finally been on this beautiful summit! Since the region around the Bärenalm is definitely one of our favorite hiking areas, and we had already visited many of the local peaks like Schafferkogel, Zamseggerkogel, Kleiner and Großer Scheibe, the Hirscheck was now especially high on the list. The route simply offers everything the heart desires: idyllic alpine meadows, rustic huts, beautiful trails, constantly incredible views into the Dead Mountains, and a summit area that will leave you speechless!

Wonderful, lonely 3-day hike across the Tote Gebirge mountains from Spital am Pyhrn to Tauplitz/Bad Mitterndorf.
Very beautiful in autumn when the leaves and trees change color and the weather is more stable.
Ideal by train and bus.
Through all vegetation zones, through mixed forest, larch and stone pine forest to the mountain pine zone and beyond.
Various options for the ascent: e.g. via Dümlerhütte or Zellerhütte and the Warscheneck to Hochmölbing. And on the descent: from Grimming Boden via Grimmingtal directly to Tauplitz Ort or via the Interhütten Almen on to Tauplitzalm or via the Salzsteigjoch steeply down to Hinterstoder.

The Wilde is a stunning viewpoint mountain over the Tote Gebirge. A versatile path leads through forest, high forest, meadows, and dwarf pines to the summit, from which not only the Warscheneckstock but also the Priel group of the Tote Gebirge can be seen in full splendor. The Wilde is a well-known and popular ski route - however, it is seldom used in summer and is a hidden gem.

The hike to Kleine Scheibe initially leads over forest paths to Schaffereith, and finally over beautiful alpine and rock paths to Türkenkarschafte and the small, little-known summit far above the Stodertal. The view from the summit, the idyllic Bärenalm, the solitude of the entire route – all of this makes the hike to Kleine Scheibe an absolute dream route!

Following the motto "The Schafferkogel always works," we have now made it to the small summit near the former Bärenalm ski area several times - a beautiful and easy ski tour that is perfect as a beginner’s route. For the ascent, there are various options; here we chose the ascent from the north, while until now we had always taken the southern route. Plus: today we were able to enjoy the view from the summit for the first time! :)
