Strumboding Waterfall-Poppenberg-Steyrsberg 1007m, Hinterstoder
Nice hiking route with waterfall, Flötzerweg, and two summit climbs in the Stoder Valley, Upper Austria.
The circular route first leads along the Flötzersteig over 2 bridges along the Steyr River and then to the Poppenberg with a great view despite the low altitude. Descent and another ascent to the Steyrsberg with cross. Return and down to the road with the Strumboding Waterfall parking lot.

ASCENT: From the parking lot (584 m) to the Steyr river on TRAIL 209, pass the Strumboding Waterfall and cross the bridge. Past the Flötzersteig near the Kreideluke junction at 580 m then back to the south side of the Steyr and to the road. Cross it; here begins the climb (585 m sign) on trail 26, steeply up to the rocks at 715 m and on to the "Stoderblick" viewing platform at about 810 m. Wonderful view of Spitzmauer and Großer Priel. On trail traces through a hollow and up to Poppenberg 860 m in the forest. Up to here 320 m elevation gain and 1 hour walking time at group pace.
TRANSITION: Back again and just after Stoderblick turn left onto the forest road (TRAIL 26), which we follow downhill gently to about 735 m. At the junction, turn right to ascend on the forest path to a clearing. Cross left into the forest (~785 m); the further way is not marked but mostly good trail tracks. Soon another clearing follows, then (~815 m) ascend in the open forest. The path then leads on top right by the escarpment, always slowly ascending uphill, small counter-ascent, and somewhat steeper final ascent to the small summit cross of the Steyrsberg (1007 m). 295 m elevation gain and just over 1 hour walking time.
DESCENT: We hike back the ascent path to the sign at about 735 m and follow right the forest road downhill. At the third hairpin (sign 630 m, actual ~670 m Tambergau 30') keep right and descend in serpentine to the road to Hinterstoder. Above the road is our parking lot (584 m). 15 m descending and about 3/4 hour this time fast, as rain is approaching.
Total: 630 m elevation gain and 3 hours walking time at 8.1 km route length.
