Bühl train station is the start and finish. A combination of picturesque beauty of town, community, vineyard, countryside and wine culture. The path winds evenly through the town of Bühl, the Hänfer village, past the monastery over Schützenberg to Affental. In spring, during cherry and apple blossom, we experience a riot of senses, colors and scents. The vines accompany us through the vineyard and show that this is one of the best wine-growing regions in Germany (especially recommended in autumn). Above Eisental at the Fatima Chapel, we meet the Ortenau Wine Trail. It leads us to Altschweier and back to Kappelwindeck/Bühl. Through the Bühler city park we return to the station. Accessible even for wheelchair users or parents with prams (except Carl Netter Tower), the path offers wonderful views over the entire route. A welcome Sunday route, for the eyes and the enjoyment of Baden cuisine.

Those looking for the scenic contrast to the mountains will find it here! Cultural landscapes and floodplain forests alternate in a cheerful style, interrupted by heathland and the contrast to Baden Airport. Those who give their eyes the freedom to casually capture the unexpected and follow the sound of nature will also perceive the most diverse scents and compose them into a wonderful symphony. We also find the special animal worlds at the camel and ostrich farm. From March to October, a unique tour of the property awaits us here. Migratory birds, such as greylag geese and duck species, can be found at the gravel pit lake in early and late seasons, and in summer, people. In the Abtsmoor, we can observe the deer grazing in the early morning hours.

The path is laid out on gravel and natural ground and leads us from the town through agricultural areas into the floodplain forest and along the Rhine. We will cross small streams, walk along the banks of quarry ponds and pass through several nature reserves.

Rhine Floodplain Route Karlsruhe - Kehl, 102 km Stage 1   Stage 2   Stage 3   Stage 4 Rhine Floodplain Route Karlsruhe - Kehl: Stage 2 After Plittersdorf, we enter the Rastatt floodplain landscape with its unique fauna and flora. Landscape-wise, we move through one of the last primeval forests in Europe. Many rare animals are offered a safe refuge with the possibility to survive. Rare plants have settled on the most diverse soils and natural conditions or lead an isolated life here, protected by the Baden-Württemberg state nature conservation authority. How does the picture change when we move from the biotope into the human-shaped biosphere: the Rhine, canalized; logged forests, agricultural landscapes - but not dead. Hikers are advised to take a minute or two to perceive and internalize the many impressions.
