I give this route 5* even though it can NOT be completed by "normal" people. When you get to the junction with the GR11, there is a clear sign that says that the path is dangerous, that it needs special climbing equipment, and that it is closed. Still, the hike up to the junction is a wonderful hike: at first quite steeply in the forest, later more steeply and involving scrambling and some chain-assisted sections. For people can contribute on the GR11 all the way to the top.

An enjoyable hike which climbs quite steeply up the valley. You are inside the valley most of the time, so there are no great views, but the forest is beautiful and the frequent cascades are nice. We turned around before the lake.

A beautiful hike. At first on the forest; then you come out of the trees into a wonderful panorama of Mont Perdido.

A nice, easy walk that goes into a beautiful valley. As you proceed, the walls are getting closer and closer. Beautiful views of the valley near the refugi.

A beautiful hike that connects several breath-taking waterfalls, views several others, and offers some wonderful views of the Pineta valley. Although it involves some ascents and descents, it can be done with kids and dogs.

Fantastic hike! It starts at the Spanish end of the Bielsa tunnel, where there is plenty of parking space behind the customs building. The walk climbs steadily up to the French border, with beautiful views all the way. It then continues along the Spain-France border, and the views get even better. Next time I would do this walk counter-clockwise; I think that there is a better chance of finding the route markings near the top, which are not easy to find. September 2025: we did it anti clockwise. It helps a bit, but you still need to find the path along the border. Keep in mind that much of the path is on the ridge, not amongst the shrubs on the slope. Look for the stone cairns. This hike is one of our favourite hikes in the Pyrenees!

A wonderful hike, up in the Pineta valley. It starts on a wide road in the forest, but once you come out of the tree line the views are superb all the way. The top bit requires some scrambling, but is worth the effort: you get to Commodo peak, where you get an uninterrupted 360 degrees view of the beautiful valley down below. If you need even more adventure, then on your way down, after you pass the path junction leading right, and you are in a littel hanging valley with white walls, you can shorten the walk by taking the path (marked on the app's map, but not signed anywhere) that leads left and goes down more-or-less in a straight line. This cuts about 2km from your walk, but adds the thrill of going down a very steep, gravel path. For experienced hikers only!!
