The highlight of this varied winter hike is the impressive Lechfall. In the historic old town of Füssen, numerous cafés invite you to linger.
On this short hike, we immerse ourselves in very different worlds: We experience the picturesque old town alleys with the popular cafés and colorful shop windows, the solitary mountain forest, and the Lechfall with its unique gorge. Past the venerable former monastery with the parish church St. Mang, the route leads us up to the Baumgarten behind the High Castle. Then the little adventure begins: On the ridge of the Kobel, the town appears very far away. Memories of long-past times embrace us at the Lechfall: The pre-glacial, deeply incised gorge impresses us—as does the legend of Saint Magnus, who is said to have jumped over here.

Safety information
In winter, paths or path sections can be snow-covered, frozen, and/or icy at any time due to weather conditions. This may require additional equipment such as hiking poles and crampons (very light crampons) to walk the path. Occasionally, it may also happen that paths or path sections are not passable at all because it is too icy, there is too much snow, or the clearing vehicles are still busy clearing the most urgent streets and squares first. Please take note of this, be understanding, and assess the situation directly on site.
Tips and suggestions
Of course, this route designated as a winter hike can also be done in summer.
Roadbook
First, it goes through Reichenstraße, the main street of the old town with richly painted medieval houses, and past the monastery up into the Baumgarten. At a small wooden bridge, we follow the path further towards Kobel. From here, there is no clearing—a true winter experience! At the next fork, we keep left and walk down into the Bad Faulenbach district. From here, the paths are cleared again. In a large right-hand loop, we cross over the Fischhaus and Schwärzerweg to the Lechfall. Again, it goes over a bridge: This and the viewing platform above open up a breathtaking view down to the waterfall and into the gorge behind it. Along the Lech, we stroll back to the old town. There are dining options in the Füssen old town and in Bad Faulenbach.
