This trail running route takes you 13 kilometers to the most beautiful spots on Edelsberg - through the Höllschlucht to the Kappeler Alp, Edelsberg and Hündeleskopf huts
The trail running tour starts in the Pfronten district of Kappel. In the first meters, the route passes through the forest rope park Höllschlucht and then turns into the homonymous gorge. The narrow trails run past roaring waterfalls up to the Kappeler Alp. After the popular mountain hut, it continues uphill past the Sportheim Böck to the summit of Edelsberg. From here begins the descent. Past the Edelsberghütte – and in summer months also past the Dinserhütte, which is managed from June to early September – the path leads down into the Pfronten valley before abruptly turning left. After passing the Hündeleskopfhütte, the first vegetarian mountain hut in the Alps, it goes steeply downhill again on narrow forest paths. The last meters lead over open mountain meadows back to Pfronten-Kappel at the starting point.

Safety information
The distance is not the decisive factor: Difficult terrain can easily greatly increase the time you usually need per kilometer. Therefore, plan generously the time you want to spend on the way. If you reach halfway, plan to turn back if in doubt. If you get more tired on the route than you thought, turn back.
Don't forget water and provisions: Take provisions and enough water even on shorter runs. For example, energy bars easily fit into any pocket. Drink continuously in small sips, even if you are not thirsty. If you are unexpectedly out longer in the forest or on the mountain, having enough provisions and water makes an important difference.
Assess your running technique correctly: If in doubt, start first on easy terrain and gradually increase to routes through demanding alpine terrain. Small fast steps are best, enabling quicker reactions and keeping balance. Good shoes are important. Trail shoes with a good profile grip better in the terrain and protect your feet from roots or stones. If necessary, have an expert at a trail running specialty store advise you to find the right shoes.
Use the right equipment: Temperatures can vary greatly especially in the mountains and thunderstorms develop faster than you think. Even in summer temperatures, warm reserve clothing can be helpful for lower temperatures in extreme cases and make unforeseen situations less unpleasant. And of course, you should always think of good sun protection.
Better safe than sorry: Inform someone about your planned route and when you should be back. Always carry a mobile phone (with a charged battery) and a whistle. If you try a new route, take a close look in advance at the course as well as the elevation and technical demands of the tour.
