Detailed description of the route
From the parking lot, head toward the Betekints restaurant, along the creek on an unmarked cobblestone path. We run along the Séd Valley walking path past the open-air stage, climbing rocks, and a playground inspired by Hungarian folk tales. At the end, at the fence, turn left onto an asphalt road, which shortly joins the P trail from the left. Following the hills and the trail, we wind along Veszprémvölgyi Street, where at the junction, we turn right onto an asphalt road that soon becomes a dirt road. This section ends at Route 8, which we cross cautiously.
On the far side of the main road, we quickly reach a Y junction where we keep left and continue on the P+ trail. First, we briefly ascend on a gravel road, then reach a huge meadow. On its left edge, along a shrub line, we follow a comfortable grassy dirt road toward the forest, ascending very gently. We reach an old, sparse oak grove and continue straight. The double-track dirt road climbs, but before the end, we need to pay attention, as we have to make several sharp turns quickly on the P+ trail. The forest becomes denser, and the path continues very gently uphill. We arrive at the wire fence of a former military training ground, lined with lamp posts, where we turn right in the middle and continue on a single-track trail in the forest.
At this section, we reach the highest point of the route (310 m). From here, the trail narrows and descends, arriving at the bottom of a large fenced meadow. We run straight across to the far end, enter thickets, cross them, and after a big right turn, continue winding through the oak forest on normal forest paths with comfortable terrain. At the end of the small valley, we reach a T junction where we turn right, toward the rocks and the Tekeres Valley. On the right under the path, near the rocks, there is a resting place with a shelter and a fire pit. This section is very atmospheric and allows a good, fast pace. We reach a large clearing with centuries-old oaks, a rock wall in front, then another valley, another resting place, and a bigger clearing follows. Here we turn left, still on the P+ trail.
Soon we arrive at the clearing below the Ördög Rock, where the P trail joins from the left — from here we continue on it. You can climb the Ördög Rock, but it does not offer a panoramic view, just a higher viewpoint to look down to where you climbed from. We run between the rock and the hill opposite it, pass by small weekend homes, then cross a large clearing under power lines and soon reach Route 8 again and arrive back at the point where we crossed it earlier.
From here, we run back a bit on the now familiar route. On the right side, a little inward, near the Laczkó Spring stone structure — it’s worth checking if water is flowing, as it’s refreshing before the last climb. We run until the point where before the end of Betekints Valley, the P trail turns right at a large rock and starts ascending Gulya Hill. We climb a steep, rocky, single-track path, but it is a short section. Reaching a wider forest road, we turn left and arrive at the first lookout point. From here, the view extends far, and we can nicely follow a good portion of the route already covered. Continuing on comfortable forest paths, we run along the ridge above the creek in the Gulya Hill park forest. A little further left, we reach another lookout terrace, from where there is a beautiful view of the viaduct and the Veszprém Castle. From here, it is only a few steps to the Rovaniemi stairs, which we descend, but still on the upper section, we turn right with the P trail and continue winding on a rollercoaster-like single-track trail through the pine forest. We reach the zoo fence, spot some taller dinosaurs in the Dino Park, and after the fence, descend old stone steps back to the start parking lot.
