From Oppenau, 3 climbs lead up to the B500, the Black Forest High Road, which runs over the Black Forest heights from north to south. The Deutschlandtour passed through Oppenau and partly over these roads in 2001, 2002, and 2007. The ‘Oppenauer Steige’, the shortest connection to the B500, corresponds according to UCI criteria to a category 1 climb.
Anyone who wants to challenge themselves can link all 3 climbs so that the Griesbacher Steige, Oppenauer Steige, and Lierbachtal-Ruhestein climbs form a figure 8 with crossing points at Oppenau and the L92/B500 junction at Zuflucht, going up and down each time.
Since the route repeatedly passes through Oppenau, the route can be abandoned at any time, e.g., in bad weather.
