The route starts and ends at the Heimgarten parking lot (Ohlstadt).
At the beginning, turn right over the Kaltwasserlaine via a small ascent to the path leading to Heimgarten.
The path passes the Wank hut and continues along a ridge, where you already have a good view of Heimgarten. Upon reaching Heimgarten, do not head to the summit cross yet; the path continues over the ridge to the Pavilion/Herzogstand. At the Herzogstand mountain inn, the descent to Lake Walchen begins, ending at the Herzogstand cable car parking lot.
After the descent is before the ascent.
Pass the parking lot onto the hiking trail (well signposted) to Heimgarten. The path runs along the Deiningbach for a while until the wide forest road turns into a narrow hiking trail.
The path is always very well signposted, allowing you to fully concentrate on the surroundings and the view :)
At the end of the second ascent, the path leads to the Heimgarten summit cross.
The descent to Ohlstadt comes at a perfect time after all the ups and downs :) It goes past the Bärenfleck hut down to the starting point at the Heimgarten parking lot (Ohlstadt).
