Das Berggasthaus Herzogstand liegt auf 1575m, auf dem Lieblingsberg von König Ludwig II. Auf der großen Sonnenterrasse können Sie den Ausblick auf die östliche Karwendelspitze über Soiernspitz, Stubaier- und Ötztaler Gletscher, Wetterstein mit Zugspitze, Estergebirge bis zu den Lechtaler und Allgäuer Bergen genießen. Es werden bayrische Schmankerl, Brotzeiten, Kaffee und Kuchen angeboten.
Zugang
Das Herzogstandhaus ist über verschiedene Wege erreichbar. Über den Heimgarten von Ohlstadt, Eschenlohe oder von Walchensee (mind. 4 Std.) aus. Andere Varianten sind der Reitweg von Urfeld zu Fuß oder mit dem Mountainbike (mind. 2 Std.) bzw. der Weg von der Herzogstandbahn-Talstation (min. 2 Std.)
Oben angekommen gibt es weitere Wandermöglichkeiten. Im Winter gibt es die Möglichkeit mit den Tourenski von Urfeld (Kesselbergpasshöhe) am Rand der Skipiste zum Herzogstandhaus, oder von der Jugendherberge Urfeld zum Herzogstandhaus zu gehen. Skibetrieb je nach Schneelage mit Talabfahrt.
