Die Heimgartenhütte liegt auf 1791m mit einem herrlichen Rundumblick. Im Frühjahr 1932 begann Hans Frey mit seinem Bruder und einigen Kameraden die Hütte zu erbauen. Im Jahr 1934 konnte sie feierlich an Johanni eingeweiht und eröffnet werden. Eine kleine Karte mit warmen Speisen, Brotzeiten, Kaffee und Kuchen lädt ein um Kräfte für den Abstieg oder die Gratüberschreitung zum Herzogstand zu sammeln.
