Pilis Bike Sikárosi loop tour (Hegytető, Pilisszentlászló P+B)
South of Pilisszentlászló there are numerous exciting places and trails. Following the OKT route here, we roll past the entrance of the Dömörkapu valley, then across the picturesque Sikárosi meadow, climb to the Tölgyikrek, and later descend from Fagyos-katona towards Király-kúti saddle.
For hikers in good shape who have done multiple tours, the persistent climb in the first half of the route will provide a really good experience. The asphalt is excellent for forest conditions, while on terrain only smaller rough sections will make the cyclist sweat. No need to expect technical or overly rocky roads. Be sure to bring all necessary food, drinks, and possibly tools as the tour does not touch any inhabited areas or settlements. Be self-sufficient!
Author’s recommendation
- If you want to replenish calories with a good pancake at the end of cycling, don't choose Wednesday, because Kis-Rigó Restaurant is closed that day.

Description:
Hegytető - Kis Rigó Restaurant (PB2)
- Terrain: rocky path, dirt road, asphalt
Starting from the parking lot, we first follow a pleasant and wide dirt road that gradually narrows. At one point, the ground becomes rocky and then quite uncomfortable. On this 100-200 meter section, you have to hold on to the handlebar tightly. With a bike less suitable for terrain or less experience, it is advisable to push the bike through this short stretch. After crossing a small ditch, we arrive at a quiet street in Pilisszentlászló which leads to the village center. Here, keep left to follow the noise of the main road! After a few turns, turn right onto it, then after about 300 meters, watch for the Kis Rigó Restaurant sign, and after careful observation and signaling, turn left towards the forest.
Kis Rigó Restaurant - Nagy-rakodó (PB1)
- Terrain: asphalt
From the restaurant, heading towards the forest, we begin pedaling with a few minutes of easy rolling. At the junction, keep right, then after a few more minutes, the Sikárosi meadow slowly opens to the left with its magnificent view. We cycle nicely around the clearing, inside of which is the Sikárosi forester's house. Leaving the meadow, soon on the right side a new building, Nagy-rakodó, appears. Attention is needed here as a path branches left from the asphalt in a few meters.
Nagy-rakodó - Fagyos-katona (PB1)
- Terrain: gravel road, forest ground
After leaving the asphalt, a long and persistent climb begins. After a left turn, we ride together for a few meters on the trail of the National Blue Trail, then turning right, pedal uphill on a gravel climb that leads to the Tölgyikrek on the side of Lom Hill. Six smaller and larger paths meet in this large forest junction. Catch your breath, then turning right, ride together for a while with the S sign. The S sign turns right into the bushes, while we continue straight on the cart path. The two signs separate and merge several times over the next few kilometers.
Following the green cycling sign, we slowly reach the side of Morgó Hill, closing a long climb. On the right, behind the bushes, a progressively better view unfolds, and the towers of Dobogókő behind the neighboring ridge also appear.
From here, a straight descent begins. Due to sometimes rougher terrain, speed must be carefully controlled, but after the previous climbs this little rest will surely be welcome. A short climb signals the approaching asphalt road; around Fagyos-katona we return to the hard surface and the blue cycling sign.
Fagyos-katona - Kis Rigó Restaurant (PB1)
- Terrain: asphalt
Turning sharply right, the road climbs for a few bends, then after cresting the saddle a long glide begins. Although the road is closed to traffic, forestry vehicles and hikers like us may come around the sometimes blind corners, so ride carefully. Soon we reach the Király-kúti saddle, then shortly after arrive at the junction where we turned off the asphalt 1-2 hours earlier.
We continue rolling toward Pilisszentlászló, then at the Dömörkapu junction turn left. From here, the road climbs again, and we must work to get back to the parking lot, but the whole is no more than 3 kilometers. Passing through the barrier, the last houses come into sight and slowly the cars in front of the restaurant too.
Kis Rigó Restaurant - Hegytető (PB2)
- Terrain: asphalt, rocky path, dirt road
From the restaurant, continue rolling towards the main road. At the intersection, turn right, then after a few pedal strokes, signaling our intent to turn left while watching the traffic behind us. First, carefully pull next to the dashed line, then after another look back, turn left towards the village! Follow the winding road toward the center of Pilisszentlászló, then after passing the Mayor's Office and the ABC store, keep right towards Kossuth Lajos street! Pictograms and signs direct towards Pap meadow. Along the quiet little street by the Apátkúti stream, we slowly leave civilization behind and soon find ourselves on the edge of the forest.
Arriving at the terrain, be alert immediately as we need to cross a small ditch before the most technical section of the route. The narrow trail is sprinkled with large stones that will challenge both bike and rider. It's an exciting challenge to ride this section, but if it feels too much, a bit of pushing is certainly allowed. Luckily, this rough trail lasts only a few hundred meters, after which it abruptly changes to a pleasant forest dirt road. After a few minutes, we find ourselves at the Hegytető parking lot, where today's adventure started.
